Drove up North with Mič in search of beginner friendly surf. Luckily Baby Bay was working and those 4 surfers there were just getting out. We had the wave for ourselves for about an hour when the water got too low. Crystal clear water, steep takeoff and current to pull you out into lineup. Perfect :)

Many racers coming to Costa Teguise these days, in preparation for the race in March. I couldn't stand looking at them blasting around so I joined with my freestyle kit. Did not go so fast in a long time :)

La Pulga was working so this is where I surfed today.

Unforcasted wind kicked in this morning, so lucky I can see people sailing from my living room. The moment I saw the first one get on a plane I ran out there. Had a good hour of blasting around, trying front loops, doing airjibes, practicing tacks.

The windiest I've ever sailed up North! Flying with 3.7 and La Hedionda was working again, what a fantastic wave this is! Ran out 10 minutes before Mič and Tim to take a few shots. These are all from their last two waves!

First time surfing La Garita beach in Arrieta. Such a fun beach break, but crowded, as I've always seen it. Will come back for sure. Broke my board after an hour or so and did some camera duty.

Another great Jameos with Mič, True North wind direction. The new Fringe worked superbly in gusty conditions!

Classic Jameos! Northerly winds with pumping swell. Even getting in the water was in itself a mission. I was watching, counting and timing the sets for 20 minutes before I dared to jump in. Good call, I sailed out in a flat sea, while Mič got thrown on the rocks only a couple minutes later. While the ding kit dried on his board he snapped a few shots and I'm so glad he did! These are some of the best shots I have. He joined me in the water quickly after and so did a couple of locals and we had one of the best Jameos sessions ever!
Sadly, as I was coming back to the beach another big set came and I was still greedy for more so I took it. Aimed for an aerial, botched it and landed directly on the main sail panel, cracking it wide open. Arrghhhhh, there goes my 4.7!

Oh boy, it sure is nice to get such a relaxed session in after yesterdays craziness. Less waves, more Easterly and stronger winds meant plenty of power in the sail throughout the entire wave line. I could really work on my bottom turns and cutbacks, get that water spraying.
I'd rig a 4.7, but it was on repair since yesterday. So I had to go with the 5.0 Fringe. I was utterly surprised how well it handled the overpowered conditions. And it's a three-batten sail! Yes, I had to put a ton of outhaul, but after that I blasted around with only a few fingers on the boom. Well done Goya, well done!

Sunrise session with Mič. We planned to go to La Garita, but it was too small so continued up north to Jameos. It was small and mellow, just how I like it the first time I go out on a new board: after breaking the finbox on his minimalibu, Tony was super nice and gave me another board, a wide epoxy 6.6".
