So we're having great paella with friends and I just can stop getting goosebumps -- whitecaps on the water, west direction, San Juan could be working! But I've already been to Famara today, I really don't fancy another drive for a 50/50 chance that San Juan is on ... bah, let's do it! Threw the kit back into the car and on the way to Famara one more time today!
It was very light, but the wave was small so it wasn't too scary hovering directly in the lineup. Got some on the best rides here, with one wave forming up for two consecutive aerials! First time ever! Crazy!
Also, the first day on the new Flikka! The custom quad that I have been using this winter had a construction problem, so the guys expressly baked a carbon copy of it and sent it over. Well, not a carbon copy, this one is a dyneema version! Rocks beware!

First time sailing Caleta del Mero, big thanks to Tim for convincing me to come sail there. It looked shit from the parking, but once in the water, I realized the waves were oh-so-good. Then at the end Mič was nice enough to sit behind the camera for 15 minutes so I even have a few shots!

The Pro's who are here for the ProAm race event saw my shots from yesterday and decided they want some waves too haha :) Conditions similar to yesterday, but the wave is so close to the rocks that it got crowded real bad. I got washed super hard but my kit somehow missed all the rocks and there was no damage when I swam to it -- caught it maybe 2 meters before it would get smashed onto another cluster of rocks. One of the other guys wasn't so lucky though, he broke everything when he got washed on not even that big of a wave :(. This spot is tricky ...

Perrrrfect Famara! Small, up to head-high on a set, but totally glassy and long. Why can't it be so small and nice more often :)

Family time on the Famara beach. Small and soft waves so I mostly went out to get wet a bit and do some exercise.
But then when I came back to dry land my daughter was already in her wetsuit, eager to try the "tandem" bodyboard we bought in Decathlon the other day! So she did! Her first wave haha :)

Closeout morning in Famara. Went all the way from Codito to the bunker to try to find a decent break. Nope. Closeouts everywhere.

I don't think I've ever seen so strong wind here. And so big waves. Only me and Tony were out, entire playground only for ourselves. Caught a few super nices ones, sprinkled some floaty jumps on top, and got back to the beach in about an hour, totally destroyed and with a huge smile.
Took a few shots as I was packing and a few locals showed up.

Beautiful waves at Jameos, but super crowded with a ton of good locals in the lineup so it was very difficult to catch any waves for someone of my level. Good practice though :)

Tony gave me a new board to try, again a smaller one, so I can duck-dive it better and hence stay higher up in the lineup.
A supergood session with only a few of us out, mostly locals. And lots of fooling around on the beach later :D

Glassy Jameos with Tony, Špela and Janko. Quite crowded so lots of waiting for waves, but completely worth the wait!
